After three days in Cordova I am finally here at Main Bay Hatchery! Due to the weather, no one could fly out of Cordova so we watched a lot of movies, visited the museum, walked around town… several times, took way too many pictures and became regulars at the Killer Whale Café. Paul is working at Wally Noernberg Hatchery, I still haven’t heard any news from him but hope everything is going good. My first day of work was exhausting! I am working in the incubation room with one other person; I will be working there the whole time doing all sorts of things. Today we cleaned the starter tanks; we’ll be doing that for the next couple of days. This site is tiny! There are only 5 other people on the whole island but they all seem really cool. It’s been snowing since I got here, there’s about 8 feet! Everywhere you go you have to wear ice cleats on the bottoms of your boots. I have a room to myself which is really nice, here’s the view from my room:

Due to really bad internet I will keep writing and post this when I can get a connection. There’s a blizzard right now so it will probably be at least a few days before the internet will work again. I’ve never seen so much snow!!! It’s insane. Today in the incubation room I scrubbed and washed out start tanks all day. It was a workout. I’ll try and get some pictures so you can get a better idea of what I’m doing. So far, so good J
