Monte Albán, about six kilometers from the city of Oaxaca, is one of the great discoveries of Mesoamerican history and its scale, its geometry and its crowds are all quite overwhelming. Max and I were up early and got to the site sometime near 8:30 a.m. while there were very few people – visitors or vendors. While appreciative of the past, I found the living (flowers and trees) more interesting.
