Mongolian Dreams

For years we’ve wanted to travel to Mongolia; known for it’s nomadic culture and amazing landscapes. We’ve decided that we’re going to go there for a few weeks this fall! We don’t have the money yet and we are just starting to save and make plans. We hope to see the Golden Eagle Festival in western Mongolia, visit the reindeer herders and do some horseback riding. We’ve only gone on one trip in the past that wasn’t a mission trip, working or volunteering with a humanitarian relief project. This trip will just be to see a new part of the world that has fascinated us for a long time.

We thought at first that we needed to have a “reason” to go there but there are so many valid reasons to travel to a new part of the world aside from working or volunteering. God created the world and spending time in his creation can teach us so much about his character and nature. Traveling challenges yourself to be resourceful, teaches you about how other people live, expands your perspective, gives you a greater appreciation for life, bonds people through common experiences and is super fun!

Mongolia is one of the most sparsely populated places the world today and has 260 days of sunshine a year. There are more horses than people, vast steps of grasslands, the Gobi Desert and is seemingly untouched by tourism. The golden eagle festival (that was featured in a documentary called The Eagle Huntress) is a photographers dream.

We want to create content that you guys want to see regarding this trip and on our blog in general. What do you want to see more of? What do you want to see less of? Have you ever been to Mongolia yourself? If you have, comment below of what we should see or where we should go. We’re still in the early planning stages and want to hear from you about what you recommend.
