Assistant cook!?

So much has happened since the internet has been working well enough to post something on my blog! This morning was the first morning where I got up at 5:00 to make breakfast for all the hatchery employees and a construction crew from Cordova. The permanent staff are having renovations done on their houses, so a construction crew from Cordova is going to be  living here on the island for the next 2  months while they put in new cabinets, carpeting and siding. We have a cook that is working overtime to keep up so I offered to help and our manager jumped on the opportunity and yesterday I took my food handlers card test for alaska, got an apron and am officially assistant cook. Since I am still needed in the incubation room to feed fish and clean tanks, I work half the day in the kitchen and half the day in the hatchery. This past week we’ve been working 7 days a week and will continue to work 7 days a week until we come home! This morning pancakes and scrambled eggs for breakfast, coffee cake for morning break and no complaints!
